Sonic Speedway action returns

THE Sonic Speedway will fire up again next Friday with a variety of classes.

Feature events on the evening will be the Production Sedans running their Northern Mallee Classic in their seasons series and Compact Speedcars.

Support classes include Sports Sedans, Formula 500s, Juniors, Street Stocks and Standard Saloons.

Production Sedans are new to Swan Hill and include locals Paul Salau and Toby Carmichael, who will be keen to finish ahead of the experienced Trevor Mills, Jacob Mills, Jack Bear, Chris Fitzgerald and Rodney Anderson.

Many of the visiting Sports Sedan drivers are experienced campaigners on the track, but fans will be hoping for local product Scott Bull to make the podium.

A good field of Juniors will greet the chequered flag, with last year’s club champion Blake Adam, Emily Hooten and Lachie Bull taking on visitors Mia Lamb and Anthony Hason.

Hayden and Lockie Glare should have made their way back from Queensland by race day, where they both made the State Title Final but will face stiff opposition from multiple winner Oggie Ahearn in the Street Stock Mallee Masters.

Jack Jordan gets quicker every time he hits the track, and will be a good chance of causing an upset.

Josh Campbell will head the locals in the Standard Saloons against regular visitors Aaron Meakins, Lachie and Austin Chivers and newcomer Lizzi Huckle.

A couple of new drivers will feature in the Formula 500, including Darren Rushton, who’ll take on regular podium finishers Jess Bedggood and Tom Nietvelt, while Malcolm Gammon will be hoping his new engine runs well first up and the ever-improving Jordan Caddy will be hoping for another podium finish.

Compact Speedcars will be hoping to survive a meeting just before the main events and make a quick impression on fans to continue their series of races.

Racing starts at 6pm with trackside parking or the green grassed area to watch from.

Nominations are still open, so exact numbers aren’t known yet.

Food and drinks will be available at the canteen.
