MURRAY DOWNS

The Murray Downs Two Bowl Classic was held last week and was sponsored by WDEA Works. The tournament had some trying conditions, with showers on and off, but it ended up being a successful two days.

The winners were L.Shadbolt, B.Harker and B.Mansbridge, while the Runners-Up were B.Lehmann, J.Lynch and D.Ballinger. In third place was B.Hogan, B.Ansett and P.Holzer, while fourth place went to H.McClelland, A.Whatley and B.Fawcett. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all the Murray Downs members who made the tournament such a success.

Social bowls last week was well attended again, with thirty players participating. Winners on the day were Ken O’Bree, Mac Angus and Noel Delmenico, while the Runners-Up were Carl Fox, David Timmins and Sharon Giddings.

Our trip to Barham for the Battle of the Bridges perpetual shield was held on Sunday. Murray Downs were the winners on the day, with 83 shots up seeing us keep the Shield for another year. Well done to all members and to Matt O’Bree for driving the bus.

A reminder to midweek members that there is practice this Tuesday, October 4, for anyone intending to play, with the day starting at 10.00am, while practice for weekend members is at 4pm on Friday.

LAKE BOGA

Winners of Saturday bowls was David Condy and Robyn Jolley, while the Runners-Up were Shirley Swan and Geoff Coulter. Tomorrow (Saturday, October 1) will see the Jackpot at $96.

We had a great day against Kerang Golf last Friday, with the best rink for Kerang Golf being Ron McKerrow’s rink and the best for Lake Boga being David Condy’s rink. Overall winners for the day were the Kerang group – congratulations to them, but we will be back next year and looking for revenge.

Our Skins Day on Sunday, November 6, will now be played over two greens. If players or teams are looking for a game, please contact Ken Hamill on 0408 591 256 or on Rod Wickham 0447 382 007.

Next Tuesday, October 4, we will have a practice for mid-week players, with the day to start at 10am and each player to bring their own lunch.
