Church Notes

Anglican

LAST Sunday, we celebrated joyfully as two school-aged children were baptised and welcomed into the family of God.

The service had a real sense of faith and joy and the togetherness continued throughout a special morning tea.

While Rev Denis is away on sick leave, clergy, including Bishop Matt, will lead the Sunday services.

The Swan Hill Sunday services will begin at 9am to allow the clergy time to travel on to Kerang for their 11am service.

Nyah West service changes are to be the third Sunday (not the fourth, and will begin at the earlier time of 11am).

Other services throughout the parish and aged care facilities will be suspended for several weeks.

Forward notices:

• Ash Wednesday services will be held at 10am and 7pm. All are welcome.

• The annual general meeting will be chaired by Bishop Matt on Sunday, March 12 after the 9am service.

Grain Shed

HOW exciting it was last Friday to see so many teenagers turn up at our Grain Shed Youth Ministry.

A great night, filled with lots of fun and a feast. Could only be good.

Exceptionally, there will be no youth group tonight, however back on Friday, February 17 at 7pm.

Continuing in the excitement of things starting up, our mainly music on Monday welcomed some of last year’s families back with lots of new ones too.

We could say nearly a full house and, with the perfect weather, a wonderful time was had outside after the music program.

Last Sunday, it was with sadness that Pastor Rita announced she would be stepping down as our children’s pastor at the end of term.

Her love, passion and dedication for children and their families and sharing God in their lives has been inspirational for myself and many, many others over the past 10 years or more. Thank you, Rita.

This Sunday, at 10am, our service commences with Pastor La’Mont sharing a message from Ephesians 1. Come along, invite a friend and stay after in fellowship over a nice cuppa.

Our Grain Shed kids desk is open from 9.45am.

Craft ladies are on Thursday, 10am to noon.

Next Wednesday, at 7pm, is our appreciation evening at the Grain Shed.

If you or somebody you know over the Grain Shed journey have volunteered or are volunteering in one way or another at the Grain Shed, seen or unseen, please come along so we can thank and bless you. A light supper will be provided.

‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.’ Colossians 3:23-24

Save the date:

Sunday, February 19, 2023 is Pancake Day. Pancakes will be served after the service and a gold coin donation will be collected.
