Plenty of visitors enjoy long weekend

Plenty of visitors

THERE were plenty of vans, tents and swags and most of our little town was booked out for the long weekend. I know there was one 61cm cod caught in behind our bowling club.

I am sure there would be plenty of others that I just have not heard of yet.

Well-attended bowls tournament

OUR two-day bowls tournament ended up with 16 teams after a lot of phonecalls from Kerryn to fill the last rink.

Thank you to all those who helped to organise this great event as well as our sponsors for help with the prizemoney.

McKlardy-McShane was the major sponsor.

Others that helped with the sponsorship were Ruralec, Kerri-Kerri Merinos, Sid Wilson, Elders Barham and Elsteel Swan Hill.

We thank them for their support.

The winners were happy with their $1200 first prize.

The second team went home with $750 and there were a couple of $300 awards for the best-performing team each day.

Our next tournament is our September Classic held on August 31 and September 1.

This is a Gold Letter event and spots are filling already.

Ring Kerryn for more information on 0407 800 111.

Footy-netball at Wandella this week

WE travel over to the hill this week to take on the Bombers at their home ground.

Good luck to all of our teams.

200 Club memberships due

OUR Moulamein 200 Club members will be getting a letter from me this week.

Between floods and life in general, the president and the committee got a bit slack and no meetings or functions were organised.

We are back on track and the membership renewal will be heading your way.

Our 200 Club is a very unusual organisation where members pay $200 a year (or maybe every second year sometimes).

That is all you have to do.

This $200 goes into a kitty and local organisations can apply for dollar-for-dollar help for a worthy project.

None of these funds are used for our functions – it is always user pays.

Every cent donated goes back into our community.

You do not even have to turn up to the meetings or the functions to be a member.

Just pay $200 to help our district.

So, if you are going for a dollar-for-dollar grant for a project – from our council for instance – hit our 200 Club up first to match your available money.

If you’re successful, for every $1 you put in you’ll get to spend $4.

Our 200 Club is still very financial and we would love to help any worthy project in our town and district.

For more information on joining or to apply for funding ring Alison on 0458 346 682.

Chicks In The Sticks event

JUST a reminder about this great event that will be run by our Billabong Creek committee, Y.A.C.T.A.C. (Yanco Creek and Tributaries Advisory Council).

They invite you to join them on Thursday July 4 for an empowering day of inspiration and connection featuring engaging facilitator Cynthia Mahoney.

All women of all ages and backgrounds are warmly invited.

The day will start with a casual gathering at the Moulamein Heritage Centre at 12pm before moving over to our Moulamein Bowling Club at 1pm with the presentation kicking off at 1.30pm and running until around 4.30pm

The cost will be $25 per chick and you will be able to enjoy a high tea during intermission supplied by our gallery girls.

For more information email project.yactac@gmail.com

River levels

Our Edward is steady at the moment at around 1.75 metres and just under 1600 megalitres a day.

Still a few good fish being taken above Moulamein in the Edward.

Will find out more about the mighty Billabong and the Edward after last weekend.

There have still been – it is just taking longer than I expected.
