RACECOURSE

ON Sunday, May 22 we held our Tasco any combo triples day with very good entries.

The winners on three wins were Graeme Bennett, Ian Lockhart and Faye Devereux ahead of Ron Wolfe, Dawn Doran and Leigh Kingsbury.

Wednesday’s jackpot bowls was won by Neil Roberts, Kevin Vivian and Stuart Looney on 2 wins and + 12 shots.

Runner-up on 1 win and + 5 shots was Ian Lockhart, Som Pasco (Kerang) and Peter Hooper.

This Sunday we will be playing Jack attack IPL bowls, this should be a load of fun, names need to be in by 11am for a 12:30pm start.

Tonight, our regular Friday night members’ draw and raffles will not be on as the club will be closed.

SWAN HILL

LAST weekend the challenge was on between the Fireys and the Bush.

The Fireys team came from the Fire Rescue Bowling Club, Moonee Ponds and the boys from the bush were made up from local clubs including the Swan Hill Bowls Club.

The Bush team were determined not to let the city boys get the better of them and prevailed as outright winners by 35 shots.

The best winning rink over the series consisted of, John Caldwell, David Timmins (Murray Downs) and Kane Kendall (Swan Hill).

Thanks to our capable ladies for lunches served on both days that were enjoyed by all.

Please note that the Annual General Meeting will be held Monday, May 30 at 1:30pm as originally planned.

Friday Frolic will be on today, names need to be in by 2:30pm for a 3pm start, this will be followed by social activities in the clubhouse.

Also take note, that with the cooler weather settling in, social bowls will revert to a 1pm start from this coming Wednesday with names to be in by 12:30pm.

The Swan Hill Bowls Club President and members would like to extend their sympathy to the families of past member Max Slater on his passing.

Max was a dedicated loyal member for many years.

LAKE BOGA

LAST Saturday’s jackpot bowls was won by Les Barnes, and Robyn Jolley

Runners-up were Ken Hamill, Leigh Kingsbury, and Barb Davies, the jackpot was not won so will be $150 tomorrow.

Wednesday social bowls was won by John McCormack and Barb Davies.

There is a Biggest Morning Tea at the bowling club on Monday, May 30 starting at 10am through to 12pm.

Leanne Bibby, a McGrath breast care nurse, and Luke Phealan, a men’s and ladies’ exercise physiologist at SHDH will both be in attendance.

Entry costs $5 with lucky teacups and prizes to be won and all proceeds go towards cancer research.
