Tooleybuc Sporting Club farewells Paul Sills

GENERAL manager of the Tooleybuc Sporting Club Paul Sills has finished up his last week, after spending the last two and a half years refurbishing and rejuvenating the organisation.

Mr Sills has accepted a position to be the next general manager of the Gunnedah Golf Club, and said the club will continue to be in good hands thanks to the staff and the board.

“The staff have been incredibly supportive, and many of them are great long-term employees – Tracey Domaille, Vickie Bruton and Rick Cottis each have excellent backgrounds in hospitality,” Mr Sills said.

“And the work of our new greenskeeper, Andrew Harvie, who was hired in March has been incredible.

“He’s gotten the golf course back to the high standards it was years ago.”

In Mr Sills’ tenure as general manager he has re-introduced live entertainment, put an emphasis on promotions which reward members, and made plans to renovate the children’s room and bistro, with the eventual goal of having al fresco dining.

“With the promotions for members, we had a draw where you could win a boat last year,” Mr Sills said.

“And this year you can go in the draw to win a Harley-Davidson.”

Mr Sills is proud of the fact that even though border closures meant an economic downturn for Tooleybuc Sporting Club, he would be leaving the club “well off, financially”.

The decision to move to Gunnedah was influenced by Mr Sills spending 20 years of his life in central New South Wales before moving out west.
