Gallery celebrates moment with PRE, NEW, NOW

WHEN Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery’s latest exhibition was being installed, Victoria was placed in a lockdown.

Now, following the lifting of restrictions, the gallery has reopened their doors to art lovers.

That means visitors at the gallery can now see works from a new exhibition, PRE, NEW, NOW.

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery director Ian Tully said it was fabulous to open their doors open to people.

“This is a new exhibition that we were in the last days of installing when the (July 15) lockdown occurred, so we missed out on our opening and a concert we were about to have,” Mr Tully said on Wednesday.

“Today is literally the first time that anyone can see this exhibition for the first time.”

PRE, NEW, NOW is a celebration of iconic favourites and new acquisitions from the gallery’s collection.

It features prize winning prints and drawings from the Swan Hill National Print and Drawing Awards, and recently donated, acquired and commissioned works including paintings, textiles and ceramics.

Artists featured include Sam Byrne, Belinda Fox, Clifton Pugh, Russell Drysdale, Jan Davis, Alan Constable, Matthew Clarke, Glenda Nicholls, Suzanne Connelly–Klidomitis, Lorraine Connelly–Northey, Geoffrey Ricardo, Peter Wegner and Jan Palethorpe.

The exhibition runs until August 15.

Live music, which was set to be performed at the gallery on July 18, featuring Rianne Quaife, Kate Dunstan and Chiaki Green, was also postponed.

The performance will now be held on October 10.
