Christmas treats ahead

FROM jazz to ballet, it’s a December of delights at Swan Hill Town Hall.

Gina Hogan will present Gems of Jazz on December 14 at 11am.

The Women of the 60s, The Belles of Broadway, Night and Day – the Doris and Shirley Show, The Christmas Belle, and A Country Girl at Heart are all shows that have wowed audiences across the country with many a return season due to popular demand.

Hogan now presents an exciting showcase of jazz classics by Gershwin, Arlen, Berlin and Porter, with songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole and many more.

Hogan’s compelling stage presence and beautiful “voice of many colours” will leave audiences reminiscing and wanting more from this much loved performer.

Tickets are $20 and include high tea.

The Victorian State Ballet brings The Nutcracker in two acts on December 17.

The Nutcracker is a traditional classical ballet Christmas treat – adventurous, exciting, enchanting and a pure delight of the festive season.

Join Clara at her Christmas party, as she ventures into her nutcracker prince’s magical land.

Delight at the famous Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy pas de deux, breathtaking snow scenes, a beautiful Christmas tree and party surprises.

This delightful and powerful ballet will enchant children and grown-ups alike.

The Nutcracker is a feast of outstanding classical ballet skill that continues to bring joy throughout the ages to all who see it. The story is also told through its breathtaking score by Tchaikovsky.

The two shows (2pm and 7.30pm) run for two hours, including interval.

Tickets are $57 per adult, $52 for seniors, pensioners and health-care card holders, and $32 for people 16 years and under.
