Saints rise to dominant win over Tyntynder

FRESH off a close loss against Lake Boga the previous week, Tooleybuc-Manangatang continued to impress in a convincing defeat of Tyntynder’s A side at the weekend.

In four consistent quarters of netball, the Saints teamed up across the court with some strong pairings in GA Carlee Hazlett and GS Zoe Morris in the goal ring. Defensively GD Laura Zanker and GK Taylen Blachford also combined well, rebounding strongly and getting touches to any loose balls. Zanker is consistently one to watch for the Saints, and is a real asset in defence.

Best on ground for the victors was the particularly accurate Morris in the goal ring, but her side meshed together well to show off their experience from last season.

Home side Tyntynder were still getting used to playing together but they had some particularly strong performances through the midcourt, with WD Demi Wall best on for the Dogs and top efforts from WA Caitlin Bartalotta and centre Toni Rivett.

The Saints were up from the start and by half-time were leading 27-14. Despite the efforts of the home side they continued to dominate.

As the Easter Weekend approaches, Woorinen and Cohuna Kangas will have a Good Friday game but the other sides will have a break from netball.

In the Anzac round on April 23, Tooleybuc-Manangatang will play at home against Cohuna Kangas, while Tyntynder will head north to play Koondrook-Barham. At this stage, both matches look set to be relatively even so expect two tough battles on court.

Final whistle

Tyntynder 29

Tooleybuc-Manangatang 60
