Excitement for aspiring dancers

LOCAL aspiring dancers have an exciting opportunity to hit the big stage when the Victorian State Ballet visit Swan Hill next month.

The Victorian State Ballet will host two workshops conducted by director Michelle Sierra and two principal dancers.

From these auditions, selected dancers will perform in the ballet Don Quixote on Friday, June 3, at 7.30pm, presented by Swan Hill Town Hall Performing Arts and Victorian State Ballet.

Swan Hill Town Hall’s Sharon Brinkman said this was a prospect not to be missed.

“The chance for local dancers to perform in the ballet Don Quixote is such an incredible opportunity.

“The Victorian State Ballet is Victoria’s leading ballet company committed to connecting people and dance across Victoria,” Ms Brinkman said.

“They are passionate and committed to supporting and helping develop young talented artists.”

Ms Brinkman said there two workshops available for junior and intermediate and senior advanced dancers on Tuesday, May 10.

Workshops cost $25. For dancers selected to perform with the company there would be no charge for rehearsal or costumes.

Workshop spaces are limited. Registrations open on Friday, April 8, at 9am.

BREAKOUT WORKSHOP AND AUDITIONS

Tuesday, May 10

Ages 10 years to 17 years male and female – with basic ballet training.

Two groups: 10am registration for group one – junior and intermediate

10.30am to 11.30am – audition class

11am registration for group two – senior/advanced

11.30am to 12.30pm – audition class

12.30pm to 1pm – selection from both groups

1pm to 3.30pm – rehearsals for the selected
