Village green light: Council approves solar farm workers’ accommodation

BALRANALD’S population is expected to swell, with council giving the green light for an accommodation village to house workers at the Sunraysia solar farm development.

A development application was lodged by James Golsworthy Consulting for the accommodation to be located at 61 Bank Street, Balranald.

It will exclusively cater only for those associated with the solar farm project, which will be located 20 kilometres south of Balranald.

Councillors unanimously resolved to support the application at its ordinary meeting last month.

Council received one objection to the infrastructure and one letter of support for the construction of the temporary workers’ facility.

The letter of objection focussed on the light and noise pollution and the current view of the floodplain from the letter writers’ residence.
