Christmas is approaching quickly

ANGLICAN

THANKS to all who rallied around for the boot sale last Saturday in support of Ron’s team of helpers.

Thanks also to the Baker family for their creative program over the years for Cafe Church.

A happy crowd enjoyed the Family Feud activity last Sunday, also the chocolate awards for each winning team.

Next Cafe Church will be on the third Sunday of February and all families are invited to mark this on their 2020 calendars when the new year begins.

Next Sunday afternoon at 2pm, there will be a musical afternoon in the church when everyone can come to sing with thanksgiving.

People have been asked to write a message about something they give thanks for, and to include the name of a song or piece of music they would like to hear played.

The requests can be handed in up until midday on the day, and from these it will be an interesting hour of random items which should evoke a variety of memories.

On November 27, after the 10am service, Peter will begin a four-part discussion on the theme of hope.

This is the message of Advent which directs our thoughts towards the birth of Christ.

Each session is self-contained so people will not lose any continuity. Come for one or all four.

Everyone is welcome to add their thoughts and comments, or just listen to others expressed while enjoying a cuppa.

CHRISTIAN CENTRE

CHRISTMAS is approaching quickly and Carols by Candlelight will be on in a couple of weeks.

The Swan Hill Carols in the Park have always been a great family night of celebration in the lead up to Christmas.

This year will be no different. This year the carols will be on December 15.

There will be a free barbecue and drinks and candles for sale; face painting for the kids, a jumping castle, school choirs and lots of other fun things happening.

Of course, there will also be a great choir to help lead us as we sing many of our favourite Christmas carols.

Everyone is welcome, so come along and enjoy a fun night out with the family.

Last Sunday, we were treated to a visit from Pastor Stuart and Helen Rodgers, from Maryborough.

Stuart and Helen recently returned from a missions trip to several countries in Eastern Africa.

We have raised some financial support to help the mission, so Stuart and Helen were invited to come and tell us about their trip.

They were able to reach hundreds of people with some great biblical teaching and help equip local pastors to lead their churches.

We will also begin to turn our focus towards Christmas in the coming weeks.

We will host our own carols evening on December 20.

We’ll have more details in the coming weeks. We love celebrating, so Christmas is another great opportunity to join in as we remember Jesus’ birth into the world.

Our Sunday service begins at 10am. Everyone is welcome to join us and check out what God is doing in our church.

We always spend time connecting with people around a cuppa after our services, so there’s plenty of time to meet people and talk about what’s going on in your world.

For more information, just call our church office on 5032 4107 or email us at shcrc@bigpond.net.au.

GRAIN SHED

THIS week our foyer has gone ‘Christmasy’.

Many thanks to those who came and gave up some of their Saturday as it looks great.

Also in the auditorium, we have an empty Christmas tree up and as we are in partnership with Anglicare, donations of unwrapped toys have been requested.

Bring some along and help fill the tree, which will bring lots of smiles to those less fortunate this Christmas.

Here at the Grain Shed, tonight we have our Grain Shed youth meeting at 7pm and they are wide gaming.

What that is, well, I will wait until Sunday to ask one of them.
