Locals attending the Nyah District Men’s Shed are always busy tinkering away at projects and this month was no exception.
The men meet and work in a safe, friendly and inclusive work space on projects and enjoying each other’s company.
After their recent general meeting, no changes to their committee were made, with Harvey Pearce returned as president, Jim Strugnell as vice president, Graham Muir as secretary and Les Wood as treasurer.
Mr Wood said he and two other men were currently working on restoring some vintage chairs for a client.
“It’s very rewarding work,” Mr Wood said.
Last year the men created a tea room and office space within the shed.
They are planning on lifting the ceiling in the mezzanine area after a new banister was put up.
About 30 men are active members of the Nyah District Men’s Shed.
“The biggest thing is that there’s a lot of retirees in the area,” he said.
“You end up just getting in your wife’s hair at home, so a lot come here for something to do.
“If you arrive at the shed wanting to work on a specific project, there’s always someone to help and guide you along the way.”
The Nyah District Men’s Shed is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 3pm.
