Update: Police still searching for car

POLICE still want the community’s help to find the driver of a car which killed a man in Nyah West.

Victoria Police Major Collision Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Mark Amos said four cars had been spotted driving in or out of Nyah West along Nyah West Road between 2am and 4.30am.

The man is yet to formally be identified but he was a 23-year-old Tongan man. He was struck along the road between 2.30am – 4.30am according to Police.

“We are looking for those people to contact us so we can try and piece together the events,” Det Sgt Amos told The Guardian on Monday.

“We want to give a large family an idea of how a sibling or a son was taken from them.

“The human body is not designed top for the force a car can apply on it. We are still investigating. It is still sad enough a driver hasn’t stopped, but we don’t believe we are seeking a criminal.

“We are looking for answers and then we will make assessments if something has gone wrong. But first and foremost, we are looking for comments from people who can help.”

So far 18 people have lost their lives on Victorian roads in 2017.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
