NYAH jockey Michelle Hagley had a resounding Manangatang Cup recently, riding two winners while placing on another horse.
On board six-year-old Gelding Welsh Poet, Hagley stormed home on an outside chance horse, trained by Swan Hill’s Nathan Hobson.
The Mallee combination came up trumps in the 1175m race, with Hobson taking out second with Financial Burden, while Swan Hill’s Con Kelly trained Red Almighty — the favourite — finished in fourth.
Earlier that day, Hagley guided Free Willy to a victory, also trained by Hobson, with King Joffer finishing second place under the Nyah trainer.
