Masonic money to scholarship winner

A RAYWOOD teenager was presented with the $1000 Masonic Research Scholarship at The Chisel Lodge of Research at the Swan Hilll Temple last Thursday night.

Jo Cartwright, a Year 10 student at East Loddon P12 College, was recognised for her 2,500 word paper on her experiences of her trip to the Dardenelles in April of last year – 100 years after the Anzac landings.

As a condition for winning the fifth annual prize, she presented her essay to the Swan Hill Temple, accompanied with photographs and illustrations from her trip to Gallipoli.

The winner was supported in her presentation by parents James and Lynda and East Loddon school’s humanities coordinator Shane Rudkins.

Her personal Anzac story was particularly poignant as the family have currently staying with them an exchange student, Zafar, from Toki High School, Chanakkale.
