MAUREEN Hewitt has been recognised for her work in advocacy and providing a voice for those with disability.
Murray Human Services program manager Marie Miliano nominated Ms Hewitt for the Victorian Disability Awards and was delighted when she won the individual category.
“I nominated Maureen because she is always advocating for people with disability,” she said.
“She is often completing surveys and having a voice on issues concerning disability services such as taxis and access.
Ms Hewitt said she was surprised when Ms Miliano called her to say she had won.
“I didn’t expect it at all, Marie rang me and I didn’t think I had a chance, so it was really good,” she said.
