KERANG has been on a golden run over the past five seasons in the Central Murray Football Netball League (CMFNL), winning 94.4 per cent of their matches — just over 30 per cent more than their closest rivals.
In 2012, Kerang ended the year with their first of four premierships and an undefeated 20-0 record, beginning the most dominant period since the inception of the CMFNL in 1997.
Woorinen, a side who have appeared in the finals series every year since 2012, began 2016 with a win rate of 64 per cent — a far cry from the Blues’ near-perfect score.
The Tigers have played 75 games since 2012, winning 48, with Kerang appearing 72 times, to take 68 victories.
Kerang Blues coach Troy Coates said his side were proud of their record, largely created in Kerang.
“I think (statistics) like these are a credit to our playing list and we have been able to back up each week, and that is hard,” he told The Guardian.
“A lot of people like to jump on us when we lose, and criticise us … but it is hard to win every week and it just goes to show we are prepared to do whatever it takes every week.
“It is a credit to the playing group, especially with a bunch of boys who have stuck with us to keep the same group together, we only lose two or three (players) a year.”
