ROBINVALE is the big winner out of Swan Hill Rural City Council’s draft budget for the new financial year, with two new infrastructure projects announced for the town.
Council released its 2016/17 draft budget at a special meeting this week, the same day as the federal budget, calling for the public to make submissions.
The draft includes $8.5 million funding for roads and roads maintenance — up more than three per cent on this year due to a $400,000 increase in federal Roads to Recovery funding and an additional eight per cent in council funding.
It also includes a total of $15.9 million in capital works, while an extra $50,000 has been allocated for building maintenance across the municipality.
Works approved through community plans will also receive a total of $422,000 funding, benefiting towns including Robinvale, Manangatang, Nyah, Lake Boga, Ultima, Boundary Bend and Woorinen.
However, it is Robinvale in particular that comes out on top when it comes to new project funding.
The council has offered up $600,000 to commence designs a new flood levee and $200,000 to enhance the main road, Bromley Road (although both these projects are dependent on further grant funding).
