WOORINEN stone fruit grower Gaethan Cutri has been selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Swan Hill Yellow Pages and White Pages, themed Australian Stars Rising Above.
Sensis, the publisher of the phone book, recognises the efforts of local people in their communities by celebrating their achievements on the covers of its regional books.
Yellow Pages marketing specialist Belinda Di Pietro said Mr Cutri was the perfect fit for this year’s theme, which celebrates up and coming Aussies achieving beyond their year and making positive changes in their community.
“Gaethan is a third generation farmer and leader in the local agricultural industry, helping to develop the area into one of Australia’s premier stone fruit regions,” she said.
Unlike his family, Mr Cutri did not follow in the footsteps of farming immediately.
Despite being brought up on the family farm, he initially moved away to study at university and practiced law for five years.
Overcome by his true passion for farming, Mr Cutri now manages one of Australia’s largest stone fruit farms, Cutri Fruit, and prides himself on creating greater opportunities for growth in the industry.
Mr Cutri is developing new methods to improve the efficiency of farming, including implementing ‘fertigation’ through a unique drip system which feeds the trees the accurate amounts of nutrition and fertiliser by automatically assessing the needs of the trees on a constant basis.
He has also extended and grown the packing facility to include world-leading blemish grading technology to ensure only the best quality fruit is delivered to the end consumer.
