Alleged festival assault

A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with aggravated indecent assault following alleged incidents involving two young children at an alternative festival in Moulamein.

On Friday, a 10-year-old boy was allegedly indecently assaulted after he was approached by the 43-year-old man in a bathroom at ConFest.

The man allegedly attempted to carry the child away from the area, however he lost his footing and fell over, before the boy ran to his parents.

On Saturday afternoon, it’s alleged the same man indecently assaulted a seven-year-old boy while they were using a ‘lilo’ at a nearby river.

The man was charged with two counts of aggravated indecent assault.

The man was remanded to appear at Griffith Local Court today after he was refused bail at the Deniliquin Local Court on Sunday.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at nsw.crimestoppers.com.au

Meanwhile, police were also called to the festival site following reports of an overdose on a mixture of illegal drugs.

About 4pm on Friday, police were called to the ConFest site to assist ambulance officers with a 25-year-old man believed to have overdosed on LSD and magic mushrooms.

The man was taken to Swan Hill District Health for further treatment.
