IT was more like London than Loddon Mallee on Tuesday, as thick fog blanketed the region for most of the morning.
The temperature stayed low and visibility was at a minumum as Swan Hill was shrouded in a thick white mist, which didn’t lift until close to midday.
Residents were rugged up on the way to work and school, with the mercury sitting at 1.7C at 8.30am. The apparent temperature — or what it actually felt like — was a decidedly chilly -1.2C.
The sun came out later in the afternoon and the temperature threatened to reach double figures, sitting at 9.7C at 4pm — the highest of the day.
And it stayed cold on Wednesday morning, with an apparent temperature of -2.1 at 8.30am giving residents the chills.
And if we thought it was cold in Swan Hill, spare a thought for those a little further south in Charlton, where the apparent temperature at 8am on Tuesday was -6.4C — colder than at Falls Creek at the same time.
The good news is conditions look set to get warmer, with sunny weather and top temperatures nudging 20C predicted for the region early next week.
