BIRDS chirping and the occasional car were the only sounds in a solemn Swan Hill CBD on Monday morning.
About 250 to 300 people attended the Swan Hill Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph where people laid wreaths, stood silent and remembered the ultimate sacrifice that Australians have given in armed conflict.
In schools, workplaces and homes around the world, a minute’s silence was given at 11am to mark the 95th anniversary of the World War I armistice.
