Staff undergo tactical defence training

THE COMMERCIAL Hotel has put its security staff through a tactical defence seminar to help them safely diffuse potentially dangerous situations.

Four hotel staff were taken through the seminar, which Commercial Hotel bar manager Tim Polglase said dealt with preparing for the worst case scenario — violent, potentially deadly confrontations.

“We were taught about situational awareness and preparing ourselves for the worst,” he said.

“There was a demonstration of the things we need to look out for like improvised weapons, and we went through basic escorting and taking people outside.

“It was all about being prepared for any situation we might come across.”

Mr Polglase said effective safety and security was vital at any place that served alcohol.
