Wakool election results are in

FINAL results for the Wakool Shire
council elections have been announced, confirming Andrew Douglas and Lois Lockhart will represent Ward A for
another term.

The official
results, which were released on Thursday, showed Ms Lockhart was awarded the first placement
in the ward after receiving the majority of votes from across the shire.

After running a close race with
Murray Downs candidate Ann Crowe,
Andrew Douglas was confirmed as the second Ward A councillor.

Results showed the two contenders
were separated by just 18 votes.

Ms Lockhart said she was happy with the
result, and looking forward to keeping her place on the council for the coming
term.

“I’m very pleased to be
able to help the community again for another term and I appreciate all their
support,” she said.

She added
that it was great to see interest coming from Murray Downs in this year’s
election.

“It was good that
someone from Murray Downs tried to get in, but I’m also very pleased that
Andrew’s going back.

“He’s done
a great job as mayor.”

Mr
Douglas was unavailable for comment at the time of print but has said in a
previous interview with The Guardian he would run for mayor again if re-elected.

Figures on the NSW electoral
commission website showed that 477
formal votes and 22 informal votes were counted in the ward.
