A LAKE Boga man will face court after allegedly driving drunk into a level crossing boom gate on the Murray Valley Highway yesterday morning.
The 19-year-old was driving south on the highway when the vehicle he was driving allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and into a boom gate at the level crossing between Swan Hill and Lake Boga.
An ambulance was called to the scene about 1am yesterday but neither the driver nor the male passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries, police said.
Swan Hill police Sergeant Les McPhee said it would be alleged the man recorded a blood alcohol reading three times the legal limit, shortly after the accident.
The man has been charged on summons to appear at a later date.
The collision disrupted yesterday’s morning train services, with the 7.10am train from Swan Hill and the 8.30am service from Southern Cross replaced by coaches between Swan Hill and Bendigo.
