PROSPECTIVE romantics in Moulamein have an opportunity to connect with each other while raising money for charity next week in a round of speed dating at Tattersalls Hotel.
The No Boundaries Safari charity car rally will drive into town for the fifth year in a row with a party in Moulamein on Friday, July 3, and the speed dating event is tipped to be the highlight of the night.
The car rally is held every year to raise money for a different kind of charity which is close to one of its participants, and this year money will be raised for motor neuron disease.
The night out includes a charity auction, live music from Deniliquin artist Lachlan Downes and giveaways.
Event organiser Alan Gay said it was the third time the speed dating — which costs $20 to enter, with proceeds going to the selected charity — has been run at the Moulamein party, and it’s always proved a favourite.
“After the meals have finished, the pub ladies give us a hand and we set up ten individual tables up in a spot with a chair either side of them,” Mr Gay said.
“It’s heaps of fun, at the end they have a sheet of paper as well and the girls write down whether they like any of the guys and if they would like any of them to contact them.
“At the end we tally it up and if the guy has said he’s keen and the girl has said that she’s keen, we exchange phone numbers on the bit of paper.”
Mr Gay said Moulamein blokes should get around the opportunity because the girls were always enthusiastic.
