All five teams in action

IT will be another big weekend of action for the Swan Hill Soccer League, with all five BASL teams in action for a second consecutive week.

The senior men’s, youth and under-16 boys and under-16 girls will take to the pitch on Saturday, while the women’s side will face undefeated ladder leaders Castlemaine Goldfields at the Ken Harrison Reserve on Sunday.

Having claimed a 3-1 win over La Trobe University Red last Sunday, the Swan Hill men’s team will face off against their La Trobe University’s second team on the road tomorrow.

The Swans will go in as favourites, despite the match being played in Bendigo, with La Trobe Uni Black having suffered a 5-0 defeat to Border Raiders FC last Sunday.

Jason Stokes and Stephen Whittaker were influential for Swan Hill in last Sunday’s win, as was Cooper Fox, with Stokes and Fox the goal scorers.

Also hitting the road will be the boys team, who will be looking for their first win of the season when they face FC Eaglehawk at Truscott Reserve tomorrow. The under-16 girls team will be looking to secure consecutive wins when they play Castlemaine Gold in their first away game of the season.

The under-16 boys will join the women’s team in playing at home, when they host FC Eaglehawk at 1pm Saturday afternoon.
