ROUND eight of the Swan Hill District Cricket Association summer saw three games completed, with Nyah District defeating Ultima TUF, Woorinen downing Tooleybuc Manangatang and Lakers getting up for the first time this season over St Mary’s Tyntynder.
The game between RSL and Swan Hill — scheduled to be played at North Park — was abandoned.
Nyah District def Ultima TUF
NYAH District proved too strong for Ultima TUF at Alan Garden Memorial Reserve on Saturday.
Nyah ripped through the UTUF batting line up with ease, eventually dismissing the home side for just 67.
Jason Morrison did most of the damage for Nyah with 4/31, while Trent Thompson managed 3/13.
Nyah met UTUF’s total with relative ease, with Ritchie Boulton top-scoring for the visitors with 27.
Woorinen def Tooleybuc Manangatang
WOORINEN secured an important win over Tooleybuc Manangatang at home on Saturday.
The visitors won the toss and sent the home side into bat, with Jamie Crabbe top-scoring for Woorinen with 64.
Kallen Heslop was the best performed bowler for Tooleybuc Manangatang with 4/17, as the visitors faced a total of 158 to reach.
They fell some 29 runs short however, with Simon Craig providing the best resistance to the home side’s attack with 31.
Dilbag Singh was most damaging with the ball for the home side taking 4/23.
Lakers def St Mary’s Tyntynder
LAKERS enjoyed their first win of the season when they got home over St Mary’s Tyntynder at Lake Boga on Saturday.
St Mary’s batted first, with the top-order struggling to form partnerships until Corey Daniels arrived at the crease and added 34 to the cause.
He was later dismissed by Sean Bedggood, with the visitors succumbing to be all out for 110.
Matt Smith, Brendan Shepherd and Ryan Callaghan all finished with two wickets for the home side.
Lakers easily accounted for the St Mary’s total, with Alan Hatcher and Smith — who top-scored with 38 — the only two batsmen to lose their wickets.
While Gurinder Khangura and Shepherd were the not out batsmen with 31 and 18 respectively.
Mat Heffer took both wickets for St Mary’s.
