Plans for the 75th anniversary celebration of the Flying Boat Repair Depot at Lake Boga in March received the ultimate boost.
A flying Catalina aircraft will join an array of stunt and historic aircraft over the wartime base of the flying boat.
The all-black Consolidated PBY Catalina (which became known as “Black Cats” due to their paint scheme) is due to perform over Lake Boga at 11.40am and at 3.45pm on March 18.
“It was a decision-making process across 14 months,” museum manager Daryl Allen told The Guardian.
“We first approached the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) and they came back with a price (which) we accepted but they changed (their mind) and through re-negotiations we have been able to secure the Catalina once again,” Mr Allen said.
