A MULTI-MILLION dollar expansion of the Swan Hill Abattoir will help transform the company from a domestic to an export-focused meat processing facility, according to Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development Jaala Pulford.
Ms Pulford inspected the facility, that will create 75 new jobs and safeguard more than 200 existing jobs, during a recent visit to the river town.
She was accompanied by Swan Hill Mayor Les McPhee.
The state government announced the funding last June as part of the $500 million Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
The project includes new boning technology for six-way cutting, additional freezing capacity and room, reduced use of pollutant refrigerants, streamlined slaughter floor operations and improvements to existing chiller and storage facilities.
