Street parade a highlight of Mallee Steam, Oil and Machinery Rally

DESPITE a wet Saturday, the Mallee Steam, Oil and Machinery Rally was a great success.

Held at the Woorinen South Township Recreation Reserve on April 6 and 7, hundreds of people enjoyed the displays of tractors, vintage engines, machinery, trucks, cars, motorbikes and memorabilia.

The event began with a procession of vintage tractors, trucks and other machinery through Swan Hill’s main street on Saturday morning.

Vice president Mark Bail said some activities, including the tractor pull were affected by the wet ground conditions but club members and visitors enjoyed the displays .

On the Sunday, Bulldog Tractor owners set up a small tractor pull sled and other displays.

Exhibitors travelled from throughout the area, New South Wales and Melbourne to take part.

Mr Bail said members were already planning for next year’s event and hoping for better weather.

The club meets at the Woorinen South grounds on a monthly basis and has more than 100 members with an interest in vintage tractors, trucks and machinery.
