End of an era for Turner’s Bakery

ONE of Swan Hill’s oldest bakeries has changed hands for the first time in 42 years.

Turner’s Bakery owner Stephen Turner hung up his apron and closed the door to his bakery for the last time over the weekend.

The business has been bought by Rivett’s Bakery, which opened the store on Tuesday.

While he had mixed feelings about the end of the era, Mr Turner said he was excited to be retiring.

“I feel great. I am as happy as the day I got married,” he said.

Purchasing the bakery at the age of 21, Mr Turner and his staff have served the Swan Hill region delicious freshly baked bread, sweets and pies for decades.

Renowned for his donuts made specially for Swan Hill’s Market Day, Mr Tuner said locals shouldn’t fear that they will now miss out.
