Memorial race weekend

SWAN Hill Motor Racing Club is presenting the Geoff Beasy Memorial VSC Formula 500s race this weekend, along with its usual local support classes.

The Geoff Beasy Memorial Race was named after him because he was heavily involved in the club.

He became a member just before Woana circuit closed down and did a lot of work building the new Sonic Speedway track as it is today at Chisholm Reserve.

He was also secretary of the club and did a lot of gardening and cleaning of the various complexes out there.

Beasy was the gateman for many years and after his death the club named Geoff’s Gate in his honour with a memorial stone located nearby.

He loved the formulas and the juniors and received the June Domaille Award, jointly with his wife Bev, which is awarded by the president to the person he feels has done a lot for the club.

The Beasy family are still involved in the club, with Geoff’s son Gary and his grandsons Todd and TJ all still racing.

TJ is defending his flag this weekend.
