WHEN a three-month old Jack Russell cross entered the Swan Hill pound in 2009
malnourished and missing part of his tail, council officer Darren Rovere
couldn’t bear to leave him there.
“We took him home and fed him up on
Virginia ham for two weeks — he wouldn’t eat anything else,” he
laughed.
Tiger quickly became a cherished member of the Rovere family, and
two and a half years later he is king of the house.
His royal treatment will
continue this weekend when the excitable pup leads the way at the annual Million
Paws Walk at Riverside Park on Sunday morning.
The Rovere family are guests
of honour at this year’s event and will have the privilege of leading the
procession when the tenth annual walk kicks off at 10am.
Following the walk, attractions at Riverside park will include a dog
obedience demonstration, free veterinary health checks, and a “Most Stylish Dog”
competition, giveaways and professional photos.
On-the-day registrations for
the Million Paws Walk will open at 9am on Sunday.
