Animals for breakfast

THE HUMAN version of zoo animals visited the Swan Hill Specialist School on Thursday morning.

A group of about 20 members from the Variety, The Children’s Charity, were in the region dressed up in a zoo theme — with even their four-wheel drives decked out in animal colours.

The charity chose Swan Hill as the beginning of a trek to Griffith, NSW, as it had recently donated money towards a program at the Specialist School.

“It is great for the group to see what the money has gone towards here,” school assistant principal Janet Jolliffe said.

The hospitality VET students were given the opportunity to put on breakfast the group.

Student Jonathon Wright said he enjoyed preparing the eggs and bacon for the visitors.

“We had to hand out the breakfast,” he said.

Students were also given the opportunity to dress up in an animal costume and participate in a parade showing off their costumes.

“They’ll get to look at the cars, which will be some fun for them,” Ms Jolliffe said.

By giving practical equipment, programs and experiences, Variety helps children in need to overcome obstacles and live life to the fullest.

Variety CEO Holly Reid said the charity focused on distributing funds to individual children as well as schools.
