SWAN Hill’s patients are one step closer to a safer route
between medical facilities on Splatt Street.
A letter from the Residents and
Ratepayers Association with support from Swan Hill Medical Group has prompted
Swan Hill Rural City Council to look into the feasibility of a zebra crossing
connecting the practice and the hospital.
Acting chief executive officer
David Leahy said the engineering department would investigate the suggestion.
A loss of car parking places was raised as one of the potential drawbacks of
the idea.
Swan Hill Medical Group manager Gail Kenyon said she was very
pleased to hear the issue was progressing.
“It is extremely dangerous for
elderly and frail people leaving the doctors. With so many things on their mind
they don’t look for traffic leaving around there, not to mention the Coles
loading bay,” Ms Kenyon said.
