Long-term Balranald Shire Councillor Stephen O’Halloran has proven his enduring popular appeal, receiving a commanding 418 first preference votes.
Second on the list was Euston’s Cr Leigh Byron, elected for his second term.
Newcomer Trevor Jolliffe, who ran on a platform of job creation and promoting agricultural interests, rounded out the top three.
The trio enjoyed popularity unrivalled by their nearest candidates, and never looked in doubt for a seat at the table.
Crs Jeff Mannix and Ken Barnes also both secured another term, as did current mayor Alan Purtill.
Former Victoria Police employee Lynda Cooke and medical practice manager Elaine Campbell also won a place at the table.
More than 1200 votes were cast at Balranald Central School, Euston Public School or via post in this year’s election.
Bill VaarzonMorel, Cr Tina Powis, who served one term on the council, and John Jackson were the three candidates to miss out on a position.
Voter turnout also saw an increase on the 2008 election, rising from 75.97 per cent to approximately 80 per cent this time around.
