Action aplenty in holiday program

SWAN Hill Regional Library has an action-packed program as the school holidays approach their second week.

Libraries manager Camille Cullinan said that the first week of the activities had drawn a terrific response with the library being filled with children enjoying the entertainment provided.

“We have something happening every day of the holidays and it provides lots of opportunities for children to learn new skills and to keep their literacy skills happening,” Ms Cullinan said.

“We have had some new families coming in this school holidays, which has been fantastic.

“The library outreach vehicle has also been busy, visiting Nyah West on Wednesday with 20 kids showing up and a new family joining.

“It’s not just here in Swan Hill, but Robinvale and other areas to keep children engaged during the school holidays.”

One popular activity has been the search-and-find which runs every day of the holidays between 10am and 5.30pm.

It involves searching for and finding all the animal posters scattered throughout the library and writing down the words on the posters.

All participating children go into a draw for a chance to win a $50 Swan Hill Gift Card whose winner will be drawn on April 15.

Most of the activities are free and are held in conjunction with some businesses and organisations such as Swan Hill Woodworkers Club, the Nyah West Men’s Shed, Bunnings and Swan Hill District Community Health.

To book, contact the library on 5036 2480 or check the Library’s Facebook page or newsletter for more details.
