2pm-3pm: Sand art at Swan Hill Regional Library. Free event. Suitable for children 5+. Join Bella from Bunnings Swan Hill for a simple, fun and creative children’s activity. Create a unique picture using coloured sand, sticky paper and your imagination! Bookings essential. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent of guardian.

Saturday, April 6

8.30am-12.30pm: Murrabit Market. Live entertainment and children’s activities. More than 70 stalls selling fresh produce, local hand crafts, plants, tools, shoes and much more. No dogs allowed.

2pm: Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery artist talk with potter Liz Maddy and poet Verity Oswin. The talk will delve into the rich background of the friendship and how the collaboration came to life to create the Yarrein Mud Lyric Exhibition. Tea and coffee provided. Free event.

2pm-2.50pm: Snowy and the Seven Cool Dudes at Swan Hill Town Hall. Suitable for children 3-11 years. Tickets cost $30 adult, child under 16 $20, family (two adults and two children) $80. Sunday, April 7

10.30am-11.20am: Children are Stinky at Swan Hill Town Hall. Suitable for children 3-12 years. Tickets cost $30 adult, child under 16 $20, family (two adults and two children) $80. Tickets available online at swanhilltownhall.com, in-person at Swan Hill Town Hall booking office (Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm) or Swan Hill Region Information Centre (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, Saturday-Sunday, 10am-2pm).

9.30am: Nyah District Bowling Club sponsors’ day any-combination three-bowls pairs. Two games of 10 ends. Entry is $30 per player. Nomination prizemoney for winner, runners-up and equal third. Team or single entries.

Noon for 12.30pm: Opening day at Lakeside Golf Club. Four-person Gentsomes Stableford, three scores to count (any-combination teams welcome). Cost is $10 per player. If you don’t have a team, club captains will organise one for you. A barbecue tea will follow presentations. Members to bring a salad.

Noon: Swan Hill Riding for the Disabled celebrates the efforts of the McGowan family raising money for RDA Swan Hill through completing a physical challenge, which includes a 1.4km river swim followed by a 19km run to Murrabit then a ride from Murrabit to the RDA Centre. Barbecue at RDA Swan Hill (Robert French Arena) to welcome the McGowns across the finish line.

4pm-late: Mallee Tabletop Games Inc social Sundays. Tabletop war games, tabletop roleplaying, trading card games and board games. This event is for patrons 16 years and older. Monday, April 8

1pm-5pm: Minecraft Monday at the Swan Hill Regional Library. Free event. Suitable for children ages 5+. Play in survival or creative mode, explore, experiment, create or break apart, it’s all up to you. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.


Tuesday, April 9

10am-noon: Family Edible Garden Day. Free children’s activities. Scavenger hunt, library storytime, bubble wands, plant your own pot and craft activities. Attendees go into the draw to win one of four children’s garden packs. More details contact Bronte at Community Health on 5033 9337.

10am-11am: Kintsugi collage at Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery. The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with urushi lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold. The children will use techniques using gold markers combined with torn paper collage to create small paper artworks inspired by the kintsugi tradition. Bookings essential. Workshops are for primary-aged children. Cost is $5 per child or free if you hold a family gallery membership.

10.30am-11.30am: Woodworking workshop at Swan Hill Regional Library. Free event suitable for children aged 5-12 years. Join volunteers from the Swan Hill Woodworkers Club and the Nyah West Men’s Shed for a fun woodworking session. Welcome native birds into your backyard when you build this awesome birdfeeder to take home. Bookings essential. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

11am: Gallops at Swan Hill Jockey Club. Gates open at 11am. Cost is $10 per adult, children 17 and under free.

2pm-3pm: STEM Robotics at Swan Hill Regional Library. Free event suitable for children aged 8-13. Looking to discover the power of robots? Join us for a fun, hands-on, workshop where you can explore how simple programs can control complex machines. Discover how robots move. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bookings essential.

7pm: Barefoot bowls at Murray Downs Golf & Country Club. Teams of three. Cost is $5 per player.


Wednesday, April 10

10am-11am: School holiday workshops at Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery. Pop art pet portraits. Bring in a photo of your pet or picture of your favourite animal and create a bright pop art portrait on canvas to take home. Cost is $5 or free if you hold a family gallery membership. Bookings essential.

7pm-8.30pm: Twilight tales at Swan Hill Regional Library. Free event. Join local teacher and author Andrew Kelly for the launch of his brand new children’s picture book, Cry Hard Chucky. After a talk on how this book came about, Andrew will read the story after which, there will be a craft activity and pizza. Booking preferred.


All weekend, April 6-7

April 6-7: Annual vintage rally and tractor pull hosted by Mallee Steam, Oil & Machinery Club at Woorinen South. Vintage engines, tractors, machinery, trucks, cars, motorbikes and memorabilia. Full catering on site, Swan Hill street procession at 10.30am on Saturday. Tractor pull on Saturday night under lights and Sunday competition. Vintage machinery auction at 9am Sunday. Admission is adults $5, children $2.
