Former Swan Hill man believed dead

QUEENSLAND police have located what’s believed to be the body of a former Swan Hill man after he was reported missing on March 25 in Normanton, Far North Queensland.

A search was launched for 33-year-old Dylan Leschke after a vehicle belonging to the missing man was located near Jim Whyte Bridge on the Norman River.

Police commenced a search using boats and two helicopters and a ground search was made of the surrounding area.

When search continued on March 26, the body of the missing man was located around 7.10pm.

A number of specialist police have been deployed to Normanton to further the investigation and police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem that will determine the cause of death.
