Strong community spirit is the key

SWAN Hill Christian School celebrated 30 years last year, but is just as excited about what 2024 will bring and looking forward to a bright future.

Principal Kristy Wilson said the school was focused on strengthening its links to the broader community, building on established partnerships and relationships.

“We enjoy being part of the broader community and recently attended Harmony Day celebrations and we are visiting the local aged-care homes,” she said.

“We have been involved with The Good Kitchen and local businesses and this year we will be looking to expand our connection to other local churches in the area.”

The school offers an alternative choice in education for children in Swan Hill and surrounding areas.

It aims to educate through adventurous learning and Mrs Wilson said this was enhanced by great facilities at the school and a passionate team of staff and students.

Mrs Wilson, in her third year at the school, said she was looking forward to further opportunities to engage with community.

“I moved here with my husband and dogs and instantly fell in love with the people of the region,” she said.

“I have seen a very strong sense of community here and people are so willing to come together to help each other out.

“It’s something I am grateful to be a part of and would like to extend further with our school.”

Swan Hill Christian School recently hosted a fun day for small schools across the region, welcoming primary school students from Woorinen, Beverford, Nyah District, Manangatang and Lake Boga.

“It was a really great day of activities and our students got to interact with other children from different schools, so it was a good opportunity to make new friends or enjoy time with friends from outside of our school,” Mrs Wilson said.

“We are also hosting a community Easter egg hunt on March 27 at 4.30pm and welcome the whole community to join us at our school for a free barbecue, prizes, games and of course the hunt.

“We’d love to see everyone come along and just take part in the fun.”
