MURRAY DOWNS

SOCIAL bowls last week was won by Carl Fox, Elaine Lawry and Bones Smith, well done to you all.

The jackpot wasn’t won so is well worth winning next week.

Duty members are John Alderuccio and Robert Smith.

A reminder that social bowls will return to the afternoon time of noon on April 4.

There will be a new duty roster out shortly.

The region finals were held last weekend at Murray Downs with several Murray Downs players taking part.

Congratulations to the following winners:

Over-60 mixed fours champions: Buck Lehmann, Matt O’Bree, Cecilia McCaig, Josie Boyd.

Men’s regional singles champion: Buck Lehmann.

Men’s regional pairs champions: Buck Lehmann and Matt O’Bree.

Regional singles ladies Champions of Champions: Lisa Critten.

The region pennant finals will be played at Euston this weekend.

Both Murray Downs Division 1 teams from Saturday and Tuesday pennant will battle it out against Irymple, Cohuna and Birchip.

Good luck to both teams.


SWAN HILL

THE weather on Friday looks like being more bowler friendly, for those wishing to play in our Friday Frolic social afternoon commencing at 3pm.

All are welcome, regardless of whether you are a regular bowler or someone who would like to give bowls a try.

Be sure to enter your name by 2.30pm to go in the draw.

Call 5032 1772. Bowls are available at the club.

A small field braved the heat last Friday, with visitor John from Bundaberg teaming up with Barry Dickenson to take out the jackpot.

All who play have a chance of winning bowls and the jackpot.

Your lucky chances don’t end there, with Mick’s raffles taking place after the game and refreshing happy-hour drinks from the bar.

For those interested in trying out bowls, that can’t make the 3pm game, come along 6pm to 6.15pm and spend some bowling banter time with Stuart and Lee Tompsett.

Swan Hill Bowls Club are holding a three-day Easter Bowls Carnival.

Alternatively, entry forms are available at the club, or you can put your names on the sheet on the notice board.

Teams and single entries are accepted, $15 per person includes afternoon tea, 12.30pm start each day.

Good Friday is any-combination pairs. Easter Saturday and Easter Monday are any-combination triples.

Recently Swan Hill bowlers travelled to Sea Lake Golf Club’s Classic Bowls Triples with some success.

Brian Quaife teamed up with two Racecourse players, taking out second prizemoney.

Mick Balchin, David Daly and Bill King had a best winning game and received their entry money back.

David and Bill also took out resting touchers, each receiving a fuel voucher.


LAKE BOGA

THIS Saturday sees the return of pelican jackpot bowls, the jackpot will start at $90.

Single entries only and names need to be in by noon for a 12.30 pm start.

You can leave your name at the club by calling the club on 5037 2301.

Thursday next week is the next charity barefoot bowls night, starting at 6.30pm with a barbecue.

The night is in the aid of MND, $15 a head includes meal, bowls and supper after the game.

There are some great prizes to be won in the raffle draws which will be conducted during supper.

Single or team entries will be accepted on calling the club on 5037 2301.

Entries are still being taken for our first novice-only bowls tournament this Sunday.

To qualify as a novice please see the Bowls Victoria website for the definition of a novice.

The games will start at 9.30am and will include lunch. Your name can be left at the club on 5037 2301.

Social bowls this week was won by Bones Smith and Ron Atkinson with two wins and +5, closely followed by Max Parsons, Ray Leach and Peter Snell with two wins and +4.
