MURRAY DOWNS LADIES

THE hot weather forecast depleted the field by half at Murray Downs on Wednesday as 29 women braved the uncomfortable conditions.

Lois Carnie (17) 37 points led the way from Jenny Lynas (30) 36 points. Next best were Julie Overall and Kerry Gammon, both 36 points.

Lois also claimed the birdies nest on the 12th and Lynne Bishop collected the NTP prizes on the 5th and 15th.

On Saturday, Jenice Krahnert (30) 33 points won on a countback from Sally Fearn (37). Sarah Clark 32 points and Kristy Gordon 31 points led the ball pool with Lynne Bishop and Mag Kiley closest to the pin on the 5th and 11th holes.

Next Wednesday is the Monthly Medal and the Rutherford Street Insurance Opening Day tournament is March 13.

 


MURRAY DOWNS MEN

A MIXED Stableford competition was held on Tuesday, with visiting golfer Sam Hynes from The Vines GC taking a liking to the course, firing a 3 under par round from his 3 handicap to record 42 points to get the win in A Grade.

Runner-up Jayden Graham had a very handy 37 points.

B Grade winner Bruce Wilson also had 37 points, while runner-up on countback Stephan Matthews had 33.

NTPs: 5th Glenn Palmer, 15th Wayne Wisby.

Taking to the course for Thursday’s Stableford competition were 65 players.

A Grade winner Glenn Palmer had a great round of 41 points from his 10 handicap, narrowly holding off club professional Matt Docking with 40 points from his +3 handicap.

Steven Kerr found himself on top of the table in B Grade with 37 points countback ahead of Chris Grant who also had 37 points.

In C Grade, Jospeh Walsh’s 35 points was enough for him to get the win, with Bruce Wilson coming in second position with 33 points countback.

NTPs: 2nd Robert West, 5th John Tripodi, 11th Dale Rogers, 15th Glenn Palmer.

An impressive 106 players took to the course for Saturday’s Stableford competition in what was a fair assessment for golf as the course was set up quite well.

A Grade winner Ash Free carded 36 points from his 4 handicap to win on countback ahead of Stuart McLean who also has 36 points.

It was another Free family member getting the win in B Grade. This time Lucas claimed honours with 41 points from his 15 handicap to hold off John Tripodi on a countback with 41 points also.

The best score of the day belonged to C Grade winner Keagan Grant, whose 43 points from his 22 handicap comfortably got him the win ahead of Adrian Knee with 39 points.

NTPs: 2nd Jason Stevens, 5th Paul Bethune, 11th Luke Merritt, 15th Daniel Cruickshank.

Sunday was our annual Lions charity golf day with teams of four competition in an Irish Stableford competition.

Winners of the day with a team score of 123 were Adrian Knee, Chris Knee, Jamie Knee and Zac Caccaviello.

Runners-up with a score of 118 on a countback were Lynne Bishop, Rod Bishop, Rob Hinton and Tim Phillips.

Third place with a score of 118 also was David Mcclelland, Matt Loats, Rick Harding and Scott Munro.

NTPs: 5th Grant Ford, 11th Matt Loats, 15th Greg Armsden.
