Students go beyond

SWAN Hill Council awarded 14 students from schools around the district with Australia Day Student Achievement Awards last Thursday.

Many received their award at ceremonies in Swan Hill and Robinvale.

Schools organise the selection process for the recipients and the awards are a long-standing tradition.

Swan Hill Mayor Stuart King said it was important to recognise achievement in schools and of students across the municipality.

“These are not academic awards, they are an all-rounder type of award based on students that have some academic performance, but also contribution to their school community and the community in general,” Cr King said.

“It’s good to see, and to see kids in general that are performing at high level in their life, not just academically.

“Recognising and acknowledging these achievements is a great honour for those kids.”
