Swans’ Toumpas coup
In a move sure to excite local football fans, Swan Hill have signed former Melbourne and Port Adelaide player and the fourth pick in the 2012 AFL draft, Jimmy Toumpas.
Toumpas joins the Swans for the 2024 season from SANFL side Woodville-West Torrens, the side where he made his name, having won a premiership with the side in 2011 in just his fifth game.
The midfielder was also captain of South Australia in the 2012 Under 18 Championships, being named in the All-Australian side for the tournament.
Toumpas is set to add extra polish to the Swan’s midfield, providing elite decision making and devastating skills with ball in hand.
Saints go nuts
Another former AFL listed player is making the move from the SANFL to the Central Murray, as former Gold Coast draftee Connor Nutting joins Tooleybuc-Manangatang.
The number 55 pick in the 2017 AFL draft, Nutting makes the move from SANFL side North Adelaide and instantly provides a strong utility body for the Saints.
Nutting played 13 games for the Roosters after joining from AFL Queensland side Broadbeach for the 2022 season.
The 24-year-old brings his knowledge of football’s highest levels and the capability to be a damaging force through the middle or in the Saints’ forward line.
Kirby returns to Tigerland
Dominant ruckman Arnold Kirby is set to play for Woorinen for the 2024 season, returning to the Den after spending a season playing for Ballarat’s Football League’s Sebastapol.
Kirby ran out in 12 senior games for Sebastopol, helping the side to a third placed finished for the 2023 season.
Kirby has also started off the year strongly in his performances for NTFL Premier side Waratah, making ten appearances.
The ruckman was also a part of the NTFL representative side who took on South Fremantle in January last year.
