RACECOURSE
WINNERS of our Wednesday jackpot bowls were Bruce Horsburgh, Arthur Threadgold and Peter Hooper, with two wins and +20 shots.
In second place, on one win and +1 shots, were David Jonkers, BJ Penno and John White.
Tonight the club has special Christmas drinks, raffles and a members’ draw with pizzas for tea.
The club will be closed from December 24 to January 2.
There are lots of club events which need to be played ASAP.
Early notice – the next club tournament will be on January 26. It is the Peter and Mary Hooper Australia Day tournament – any-combination triples, starting at 12.30pm.
SWAN HILL
FRIDAY Frolic will continue each week during the holiday season, anyone wishing to join in will be made most welcome.
It is also a good opportunity for those wishing to give bowls a try, to come along and participate.
Every winner receives a prize and the chance to take home the jackpot, which is on the rise.
Be sure to enter your name by 2.30pm ready to begin at 3pm. Only $5 to enter and bowls are available.
Finish up with happy hour, Mick’s raffles and a friendly chat in the clubhouse.
Swan Hill bowlers had a great day last Saturday to end the year. Division 1 defeated Lake Boga on all three rinks.
G. Scandolera, D. Millsteed, V. Plumridge and W. Meyer were up 18 shots over D. Kelly’s Lake Boga side.
G. McGrath’s crew defeated P. Philp by 13 shots and G. Evans’ rink got home by two shots against K. Hamill’s team, giving Swan Hill a winning total of 33.
Division 2 defeated Murray Downs 2 by seven shots overall in a very close game.
A Marshman’s rink up by five, G. Clark’s team added another three shots, with J. Thompson and players just going down by one.
The Division 4 team borrowed spare players from Racecourse to play Racecourse 5, enabling all to have a game, the result being a win to Racecourse 5.
The day ended on a very happy note, with almost 50 bowlers, families and friends enjoying a happy, fun time at the Christmas party provided by the bowls club.
Father Christmas arrived in his summer outfit, much to the delight of the children present and also the adults.
President’s Evening was most successful on Monday, 48 bowlers took part.
Congratulations to our club champions for 2023-24. Judy Husson and Glen Evans will compete in the Champion of Champions to be held at Swan Hill Bowls Club on January 6 and 7.

LAKE BOGA
WINNERS of social bowls on Wednesday were Geoff Coulter, Keith Anderson and Stuart Tomsett.
There will be no social bowls next Wednesday as we have our Christmas/new year any-combination pairs twilight tournament beginning with a barbecue at 5.30pm and play to start at 6pm.
All are welcome, please get your names in, as it is filling up quickly, to Rod Wickham 0447 382 007 or Danny Kelly 0447 845 975, or put your name on the list at the bowls club.
Our club singles champions this year are Helen Jobling who defeated Robyn Jolley 26 to 17, and Ken Hamill who defeated Greg Clifford 27 to 19.
Excellent bowls were played by all players in trying windy conditions, good luck to Helen and Ken in the play-offs on January 6 and 7.

TOOLEYBUC
LAST Saturday Tooleybuc welcomed Murray Downs 4 for the last round of pennant before breaking for Christmas.
A great effort was had by Tooleybuc bowlers who were able to produce a comfortable win across all three rinks on the day.
R. Holland’s rink was the best team on the day with a 15-shot win. T. Armstrong’s rink won by 11 shots and P. Gardner’s rink won by eight shots.
Final score was Tooleybuc 92 to Murray Downs 4 58.
Saturday pennant will now have a break over Christmas and new year with play resuming on Saturday, January 20, against Moulamein 2 at Moulamein.
Midweek pennant is also on a break and will resume on Tuesday, January 16. Tooleybuc will play at home against Racecourse 4.
On Sunday the final of the club singles will be played in both the men’s and the ladies.
A. Adams and A. Smith will contest in the men’s and the ladies match will be between K. Smith and E. Borchard.
Good bowling to all and congratulations on making the final. Players are encouraged to go along on Sunday to support and watch some great bowls.

THE final of the Murray Valley 60 & Over Mixed Fours will be played on Thursday, January 4. Starting time is 9.30am at the Racecourse Bowls Club.
Buck Lehmann, Matt O’Bree, Cecilia McCaig and Josie Boyd will represent Murray Downs and they play Racecourse’s Bryan Bice, Fay Devereux, Mary Hooper and Peter Hooper.
The next Murray Valley State event is the Champion of Champions men’s and ladies’ singles.
It will be played on Saturday, January 6 at Swan Hill Bowls Club, starting at 9.30am.
Clubs are reminded to notify their entrants to Josh Thornton by January 1. The finals will be played on Sunday, January 7.
