PREPARATIONS for Swan Hill’s Carols by Candlelight are in full swing, as Christmas spirit is set to swell at Riverside Park.
The annual event, presented by Swan Hill Canoe Club, returns with a Christmas fireworks display set to wow crowds for the first time next Sunday night.
Carollers are invited to enjoy a free sausage sizzle and sing along to traditional Christmas tunes on Sunday, December 17.
Organising group member Craig Harvey said the evening was “always a fantastic community event”.
“Christmas is something that just brings the community together and gives feelings of joy,” he said.
“I don’t think there are many better venues than at Riverside Park.
“The sound shell that was put there by the local Swan Hill musicians’ club many years ago, hats off to them.
“It’s such a great setting, and really sounds great.”
Mr Harvey said the night would have something for the whole family and food options would be available.
“This year attendees will be able to kick off the night with a free sausage sizzle,” he said.
“We will also have food and drink vans there as well if people are after something other than a sausage or a soft drink.
“There will also be face-painting, which the kids always seem to love.”
Organisers recommend carollers bring along a chair, or a rug to put up their feet and enjoy the festive music.
Mr Harvey said there would be carolling catered for all ages.
“We are going to open up with solo artist Jason Davies.
“He will be providing a few carols for the kids before the combined churches choir will take the stage.
“They will be singing the more traditional sort of Christmas carols.”
Mr Harvey said the introduction of the Christmas fireworks display was exciting but the holiday was the most important aspect.
“It’s important to remember the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus,” he said.
Swan Hill’s Carols by Candlelight begins at 5.30pm, with fireworks to begin from 9.45pm.
