Post high for Eagles
FORMER Richmond forward Jayden Post looks set to ply his trade in the Central Murray next season with the Mallee Eagles.
Post, who played 32 AFL games for the Tigers between 2009 and 2012, will join the Eagles from Western Region Football League club Altona, it was announced last week.
The key position player is capable of playing at either end of the ground.
Post will give the Lalbert-based club a massive boost under new coaches Harry Allen and Brent Macleod, having already announced the signing of Thomson Football Club forward Daniel Freeman for next season.
No more Blues for Kerang
KERANG have taken the first steps towards another premiership defence, announcing two new signings for the 2024 season last week.
Joining the Blues will be midfielder-forward Brett Kennedy, currently playing with NTFL side Nightcliff, and former Kerang junior Archer Dibsdale, returning home after playing with St Jospeh’s in the AFL Barwon competition last season.
Kennedy has previously played with Central Districts and South Adelaide in the SANFL and spent last winter playing for Port Douglas, where he was named in the AFL Cairns team of the year.
Dibsdale was expected to play as a key forward and help replace Adam Hunter and Michael Dalrymple, who both departed Kerang after defeating Balranald in this year’s grand final.
In a busy off-season, reigning best-and-fairest Rylee Smith also left, joining Nullawil, and Hayden Hall and Michael Runciman were bound for Newstead.
Roos bounding into 2024
BALRANALD were also adding to their playing list, announcing two new recruits for next season.
Forward-midfielder Lachlan Lellman will join from Renmark and utility Mason Fitzgerald from South Mildura, likely to add to the forward-half depth.
Having spent most of his senior career up forward, Lellman made the move into the midfield this season with great success, developing into a contested ball winner and helping Renmark reach the grand final.
Lellman also played with SANFL side Central Districts side in 2021 and has kicked 135 goals from 104 senior games for Renmark.
Fitzgerald has played 29 senior games over the past three seasons for South Mildura in the Sunraysia Football League.
He is no stranger to the Roos, his father Brock Fitzgerald having captained Balranald to their 2009 premiership, and will join hoping to emulate his father’s feats and help the club break a 15-year flag drought.
Matthew and Jaxon Neagle, Ryan Middlebrook, Harrison Soraggi, Kobe and Drew Lloyd, Jack Salau, Ian Fuller, and Rory Fitzgerald, had all re-signed with Balranald for 2024.
