THE long-awaited Swan Hill Fight Cancer Foundation Film Festival gets under way on Friday night at Showbiz Cinemas.
The first film offering is The New Boy, a 2023 Australian drama film set in the mid-1940s.
A nameless nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan is captured by police and taken in at a remote monastery for Indigenous boys, where he begins to develop supernatural abilities and question his beliefs.
Documentary Rachel’s Farm screens on Saturday afternoon and is about an acclaimed actress’ journey to becoming a committed advocate for sustainable farming.
New Zealand comedy Red White and Brass will bring the three-movie festival to a conclusion on Saturday night.
It is the hilarious story of two Tongan rugby fans who miss out on tickets to the most important game of their life try to find a way to see it.
They hatch a plan to gain access to the Tonga v France Rugby World Cup game by promising to deliver a brass band for the pre-match entertainment.
The only problem is, the band doesn’t exist and Maka, the main character, has four weeks to create one.
The movie was inspired by a true story.
